Kingwood's Ministries
The work at Kingwood is divided into several "ministries." Involved in each ministry are our elders, deacons, and other capable members. This concept of several ministries helps each of us find our niche where we are most effective serving God. Administration
This ministry oversees/supports the operation of the office (administrative assistants; secretaries; etc.) and the ministers who carry our their designated functions and responsibilities. Administration also prepares the congregation’s budget for approval and maintains all financial records. This area of work is also responsible for evaluating and overseeing staff benefits and insurance. Benevolence
The purpose and goal of this ministry is to help meet the physical needs of its membership as well as the physical needs of others in the community and worldwide. The physical help to non-members also provides opportunities to minister to their spiritual needs and teach them Jesus Christ. Building and Grounds
Those serving in this area help to keep our facilities functional and attractive and to involve more members in this work.
Circle of Hope This ministry will function as a flexible, comprehensive approach designed to meet the spiritual, social, and physical needs of both the care giver as well as the care receiver. This ministry will provide numerous involvement opportunities for our members as needs are identified within the body of Christ here at Kingwood. Our members will be able to develop their talents and abilities through training programs designed to equip them in providing a wide variety of support services for members in need. College
The purpose of this ministry is to seek involvement from all college students and to help them to realize their potential through their involvement. In addition, the ministry seeks to reinforce each student’s love for Christ and to assist them to influence others through their actions, attitudes, and personal evangelism Directory The primary purpose of the directory ministry is to assist in promoting Christian fellowship. This is accomplished by providing a ready reference for identifying membership families, phone numbers for communication and addresses for sending cards, etc.
Education
The goal of this ministry is to provide a Biblically strong program of classes, class structures, teachers, and subject matter that increase knowledge of God’s word at Kingwood Heights, and that provides each student a solid scriptural base as they grow and mature. Facilities Use
This ministry’s primary purpose is to assure that all worship assemblies, Bible classes, ministry activities, and other events are properly scheduled and coordinated to avoid conflicts and to ensure that the building is utilized in the most efficient manner possible. The ultimate goal is to make wise use of our investment in this building, and to see that the Lord is served and glorified by all activities held in the building.
Family This ministry is designed to meet the needs of all families within the Kingwood congregation and the community. Attempts will be made to meet needs through retreats, seminars, classes, and other family activites. The purpose of this ministry is to provide financial and human resources to the Murfreesboro Inner City Ministry. The primary goal is to establish an Inner City church. The secondary goal is to provide workers for a learning center to teach specific age children. Involvement
The Involvement Ministry will continually review and encourage member involvement in Kingwood ministries, as well as seek out new opportunities for service. Ministry leaders who need workers and members who volunteer to work will be brought together. The ministry’s goal is to have all members utilizing a talent God has given them in the work of the Lord. King’s Kids The purpose of the ministry is to provide a service to mothers of the Kingwood congregation and surrounding communities allowing them a "day out" on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. The ministry also provides the children involved with preschool level educational activities in a Christian environment. Library This ministry provides free and easy access to a wide variety of resources that encourages Biblical literacy in all age groups by continuing to expand the library collection, finding the means to encourage adult patronage, and improving library methods to facilitate patron access. Missions
This ministry’s purpose is to spread the gospel throughout the world. As part of that effort, the ministry encourages and supports those willing to endeavor on mission trips to seek and save the lost and to minister to the spiritual and physical needs of those less fortunate. Senior Saints
This ministry was designed for the benefit and outreach of members age 60+. The primary focus is on their basic needs which include: recognizing one’s identity and worth to God’s service, belongingness and love, esteem, safety, and physiological needs. Singles
The primary function of this ministry is to provide for singles: fellowship, activities, encouragement (support and spiritual growth), and evangelism reach out in a Christian environment locally and in field trips and retreats. Special Events
This ministry is to initiate functions that compliment existing educational programs and to increase member to member social and spiritual interaction. The committee is charged with the responsibility of creating an atmosphere and functions, which would attract new members and potential converts. This ministry is to provide a core group of people to oversee the purchase and maintenance of all audio/video and technical equipment and to train members and teachers to use them. The duties include appointing operators and overseeing the soundboard and projector use for all services. This ministry works closely with the Worship and Education Ministries. A tape ministry and library will be maintained. In addition, this ministry will provide training and encouragement for the use of technology in Bible classes, VBS, and other special occasions. Transportation
This ministry’s goal is to transport members and non-members to services held at the Kingwood Heights Church of Christ in a safe and reliable manner and to provide training in order that potential drivers might operate vehicles in a safe and responsible manner. An additional purpose of this ministry area is to conduct vehicle driving safety classes as well as training classes for potential drivers designed to help them obtain CDL operator’s licenses. Units and Fellowship
The over-all reason for units and fellowship is to provide a structure that will provide support for appropriate fellowship, communication, and networking to maintain a close knit Christian family at Kingwood. The unit structure will provide physical and spiritual support for unit members by maintaining a current knowledge of unit members, their families, and needs. We Care
The purpose of this ministry is to win souls for Christ through personal Bible studies and to assist those who have put on Christ to grow toward spiritual maturity in Christ. This is accomplished by visitation to Kingwood visitors, to the sick and shut in, to those who need spiritual encouragement, and to set up personal Bible Studies. This ministry will also provide the necessary training for those desiring to work in this ministry The purpose of the Women’s Ministry is to encourage spiritual growth within Christian women. We will encourage the women of Kingwood to discover and utilize their God-given talents. Bible studies, fellowship, and mentoring will be used to accomplish this goal. We desire to build up women of all ages as we work together for Christ. Worship
The worship ministry will plan/coordinate the Kingwood worship services. This includes: worship service appointments, counting/depositing the contribution, taking the Lord’s Supper to shut-ins as requested and distributing video/audio tapes of services. In addition, the worship ministry is responsible for coordinating fifth Sunday speakers. The youth ministry exists to strengthen the faith of our youth and for outreach to non-believing students, bringing them into community with other Christians, to encourage their spiritual growth, to meet their needs, and to empower their abilities and talents to praise God.
